Methow Valley Pickleball Code of Conduct 2026

Sportsmanship & Respect

  • Treat everyone with respect: Opponents, partners, and spectators, regardless of skill, age, or background.

  • Be courteous: Introduce yourself, don't direct foul language or obscene gestures at other players, and avoid bullying or demeaning behavior.

  • Be gracious: Shake hands or tap paddles at the end of the game, thanking your opponents.

  • Be honest: Call your own shots fairly and err on the side of "it's in". If you see your shot is out on the opposite side of the net, call it out.

Session Play Sign-Up

  • Only sign up if you have a firm commitment to attend

  • Cancel if you cannot attend: See the Cancellation/No-Show Policy and Rules below

  • Cancel early

  • Don’t book multiple spots in a day unless there are openings on that day

Gameplay & Court Etiquette

  • Know the rules: Understand the official rules and apply them fairly.

  • Call lines fairly: If you question a call, do so respectfully; if in doubt, call the ball "in".

  • Manage stray balls: Stop play immediately if a ball from another court comes onto yours; return it promptly and safely to the outside of the court.

  • Respect rotations: Wait your turn and respect designated court areas.

  • Give space: Don't interfere with other games and ensure clearance around courts.

Safety & Inclusivity

  • Prioritize safety: Be aware of your surroundings and avoid reckless plays or behavior that endangers others.

  • Wear appropriate attire: Choose suitable athletic wear and proper footwear (no sandals).

  • Foster inclusion: Welcome players of all levels and backgrounds, avoiding exclusionary language or behavior.

Facility & Conduct

  • Keep it clean: Dispose of trash and keep courts tidy.

  • Be a good ambassador: Act in the best interest of the club and community.

Cancelation and No/Show Policy

We understand plans change. If you have signed up for a session, we ask for a courtesy cancellation of 24 hours prior to play.  If you can’t cancel 24 hours prior to play, we ask that you cancel as soon as possible or no later than at least 2-hours before your session starts. This allows players who travel distances and are on the waitlist to have time to get to the courts. While we do not expect this, repeated lack of cancelation prior to play (or no shows) may result in loss of ability to sign up for play prior to the day of.

While we expect that there won’t be any issues, if there are, MVP will enforce a three strikes policy: first time is a warning, second time results in one week restriction from play, third time is removal of club privileges. Members who have experienced a Code of Conduct violation or have had reports filed against them can appeal to the MVP board for a review at methowvalleypickleball@gmail.com.
